I’m based in the UK. Rodents have damaged the cable attached to my IP5M-T1179EW-28MM. I’m trying to crimp an RJ45 male connector onto the broken wire, but I can’t get the camera back online using the same PoE switch it’s been working with for months.
The coloured wires I have are:
Ethernet-style conductors
• Orange
• White/Orange
• Green
• White/Green
• Blue (solid)
• Brown (solid)
Additional conductors
• Red
• Black
Notes / what I’ve tried:
• This is powered by PoE (same PoE switch as before the damage).
• If I terminate only the 4 data wires (white/orange, orange, white/green, green to pins 1/2/3/4), the camera shows a red light, but the switch only shows a green light and the camera never comes online.
• I do not have white/blue or white/brown present in this damaged section (only solid blue and solid brown).
Questions:
1. For this model’s attached cable/harness, is there an official pinout for the wire colours I listed above to RJ45 pins 1–8?
2. Are the solid blue/brown conductors used for PoE (Mode B / spare pairs), and if so how should they be terminated when the matching white/blue and white/brown wires are not present?
3. Are the red/black conductors for 12V DC power only (and should be left isolated when using PoE)?
4. Is the intended repair to replace the entire pigtail/camera rather than re-terminate in the field?
Any guidance appreciated
