I have a couple of amcrest cameras and been very happy with them. Once setup, they just work. I bought this IP4M-1041W back in June 2024.
We noticed a few weeks ago an unusual noise and then realized it was the IP4M-1041W moving around. Initially, I thought maybe it had been hacked - however everything looked normal. I think it is just rebooting frequently, at times every hour or two. I have tried three different USB supplies with no noticeable difference. I tried switching to a different wifi access point. There are a couple with what appears to be good signal strength. Same situation on either one.
I upgraded the firmware and is now V2.800.1ENN001.0.R, Build Date: 2024-10-29
Any thoughts on how I should try to fix this?
IP4M-1041W frequently rebooting
Re: IP4M-1041W frequently rebooting
Are you using a MicroSD with it? If you are I am going to guess that the card is going bad and the camera is rebooting trying to solve a Micro SD card issue. However something to also look at is the card full, I think it can have same issue with a full card. Now not all cameras have these issues but from the sounds of it. I am thinking Micro SD card.. Next where is it placed in doors as it is an indoor camera or was it placed outside and maybe camera is Cold if you live in a Cold area like I do and have driving snow and cold weather to deal with?
Be Safe.
Re: IP4M-1041W frequently rebooting
So, no resolution. I did not have an SD card in, but added one. Made no difference, I did notice then that the NAS had very few files recently.
I tried to add the SD Card as an emergency save to the NAS but that didn't resolve it either. I noticed then that there were a lot of folders on the NAS dated from Feb 2000 on. It was regular up until 2025-12-06, then the next was 2025-12-24 and sporadically since then.
I changed the WiFi access point and it reboots less, but it is still rebooting. When I look at my NAS, there are recordings every days this month except for 4/18. Last month there are several folders labelled as 1, 2, & 3 February 2000, that are actually March 25, 26, 27. I didn't change anything and it started at 3/28/26 again by itself.
I've pretty much given up at this point, which is a shame as it was a great camera that I could recommend, but not so sure now.
