Hoping someone can help, I'm losing my mind on this one. Bought 3 Amcrest IP3M-943B cameras two months ago. Spent the time since then trying to get them to work on wifi. I use Blue Iris and a DD-WRT Netgear R7000. Assumed it was a wireless issue, so tried dropping down the bit rate, using VBR, reducing framerate and resolution (I wanted to keep it at it's full resolution, 20 FPS, CBR 10mbps, but figured that was the problem). Then tried using wireless access points to bridge it over (LAN connect the camera to the AP to then connect wirelessly to router). I also tried powerline adapters. None of it worked. Today I got 3 new ones from Amcrest (their tech support was horrible but the replacement was a breeze). Stumbled upon something interesting:
When connected only via wifi in the same room as the router, I have no issues will full quality video in BI.
When I move them to their outside location, the signal in the router shows ~90%, so great, but in BI they'll either show no signal or have 2 FPS or less framerate.
When I connect them via the powerline adapters to the router, suddenly the video in BI is perfect, except I DIDN'T CHANGE THE IP IN BI TO REFLECT THE ETHERNET IP! Weird?!?!
So I tried disconnecting the powerline adapter, and the video cuts out to almost nothing again. Plug them back in, everything is fine. The signal strength isn't changing, I'm still using the wireless IP in BI (DHCP, address reservations for both the MAC addresses of the cameras so I know which IP address is the wireless and which is the ethernet via powerline), but somehow the video works through wifi only when the ethernet cord is plugged in.
I know I sound crazy, I know it looks like I'm just confused and the video is actually going through the ethernet. But it shouldn't be. Anyone have any thoughts on how to troubleshoot/fix this? I want to ditch the powerline adapters, I'm pretty sure the wireless can handle it since it seems to be doing it already. But I'm at a loss. Pretty sure the cameras I had replaced were just fine and if I had noticed this I wouldn't need to replace them, but Amcrest said everything I was doing was correct.
Thanks for your help!!
IP3M-943B Network Issue
Re: IP3M-943B Network Issue
This is the exact problem my buddy has. It's a BI issue. BI is a resource hog. I bet if you hardwired them all, it would work just fine. I abandoned BI.
Re: IP3M-943B Network Issue
I dont agree about the BI issue with Amcrest ip3m. Recently my 4 month old IP3M943B camera just dropped wifi and it only works using an ethernet cable. I temporarily removed all security on the wifi at the router and re entered all the settings but will not connect. I think I saw where this is a common problem.
