IP3M-941 mounting
Hello, I recently installed 2 IP3M-941 cameras using the bracket included in an upside down configuration. I configured the cameras on my desk, rightside up position and all worked fine. when I hung the cameras upside down, they no longer work. I took them back down and tested them rightside up and they worked again! I turned off all the tamper settings and whatnot but they still will not work when mounted upside down. I find this impossible to believe but I have 2 cameras doing this. I see other people on youtube and other places installing them upside down like me. am I missing a setting somewhere? they are all running the latest firmware and work perfectly fine when rightside up. the only other caveat I noticed is if they are shaken just a little, they seem to reboot. I thought this was a tamper thing though. can anyone shed any light on this? thanks!
Re: IP3M-941 mounting
I have an Amcrest mounted upside down, IP2M-841, it works fine. Should not be a problem. I can offer a systematic way to troubleshoot:
Do you have any lights on the camera? If not, could be a power issue. Shaking causing rebooting leads me to believe this may be the problem. Try moving the power plug on the camera without shaking it, see if it's loose or causes reboot.
Possibly the wrong size power connector? Try another power supply if you have one available.
Is it showing up on your network? If not, could be a loose ethernet connection.

Re: IP3M-941 mounting
Thanks for the quick reply! The light on the back is solid red. When turn it rightside up and plug it in, it works immediately. I tried 4 different cables and 2 different powered USB adapters, all from previous amcrest cameras. all work when rightside up. BOTH cameras I purchased do the exact same thing and while I know its possible both are bad, it seems unlikely. you do have to shake it good to get it to power cycle. its very strange. they are both next to the AP's, like though a wall and total distance is 3ft from it. if I unplug it and plug it back in, it almost immediately goes red. when I flip it rightside up, it starts off dark then blinks a few times green and red and then works. its like some tamper is tripped when its upside down and won't allow it to work.... its too dark out now to troubleshoot but ill go down the power issue route a little deeper. again, thank you! this is extremely frustrating on a brand new product....

Re: IP3M-941 mounting
Well I read through the manual again with a focus on power. I did find at the bottom where it said if the voltage isnt enough it will turn red so I ordered some extension power cables to see if thats it. I have a feeling based on what you said and this entry in the manual thats whats going on. Since they work with the factory cables and dont work when I put on a 30ft usb extender, im thinking that might be it. still doesn't explain why when I flip it right side up it works BUT im thinking its drawing more power to move the motors and the 30ft doesn't give it enough. just a guess though. cables won't be here for a few days so im leaning on thats the issue. thanks again for your help, pushed me in the right direction!
Re: IP3M-941 mounting
You could always try running an extension cord to the cameras and use the factory power cables (as long as the extension cord and adapter is in a dry area) just for a temporary fix.
