IP2M-866W

Post by macguy9 »

I have the above noted model camera. It is randomly dropping its assigned (reserved) IP address, requiring a hard power cycle to come back online.

The software I'm using as an NVR is SecuritySpy. It normally sees the camera without issue, however when the camera randomly drops the IP address, SS can no longer detect it at all on the network, either by HWID or IP. SS can still pickup the second Amcrest camera I have, with no problem.

I confirmed the 866W camera is not registered on the network when this happens, by going through each registered active device manually on my router and trying to connect. The camera is not picking up the reserved internal IP address.

I have confirmed that the IP is reserved both on the camera settings and in the router.

As soon as I power cycle the camera, it picks up the correct IP and is detected by SS on the network. But the only way to bring it back online is through that manual power cycle. The whole point of the camera is to be my eyes at home because I'm away from the house all day, so I can't be hard resetting the camera every time it goes offline.

Is there something in the camera settings that might be causing it to do this? I have it set to auto reboot at 3AM which can help it get the IP address back, but that doesn't help when it goes down midway through the day and I'm nowhere near my house.

Thanks

Hello and Welcome to the Forum..

Would need to see some Log Data, some camera setting information to know for sure what is going on? What type of Router are you connecting it to? Is it connected Wifi or Wired? If wifi what type of area do you live in and what type of Wifi zone are you in? I mean there are a lot of things that can go wrong. I know you said it was with 1 camera and you can work another one but don't state how either of the cameras are connected.

It could also have something to do with Voltage, I mean it could be the camera (What is the age?) it could be the power supply that is spiking and at that time trips out the network.. It could be that the camera is starting to fail and or under powered, shuts down part of the circuit to keep the system going..

Do you have a Micro SD card installed? If you do I would look at that and make sure it isn't full. If it is I would Format the Micro SD card. If that isn't the issue and your problem comes back with the MSD not full. Try to removed the MSD and see if the issue goes away..
Be Safe.
