I recently added new cameras to my home surveillance system, so I now have (2) Amcrest bullets and (2) IP2M-858Ws. One of the IPs is fine. For some reason, the other IP camera has been problematic every time a change has been made to the system.
Last week, I changed the IR setting (experimenting). As soon as it got dark, the camera started freezing up, delaying refresh and going offline, so I put the IR setting back and the problem stopped.
Today, the (2) bullets were added and again, they both work fine as well as the IP camera noted above. The "problematic" IP camera is now freezing up and going offline again as soon as it got dark. This time, however, none of the video or configuration settings were changed. The only change was to the Synology storage settings.
All (4) of my cameras are hard-wired (no WiFi). Can someone offer any suggestions as to what setting(s) might be causing this behavior?
Thank you.

Re: IP2M-858W with Synology - Periodically Freezes Up
Sounds like a power supply problem since it happens when IR comes on at night. If using 12V DC power, it could be a faulty power supply or a too long small wire extension cable from power supply to camera. I have that camera and it can require up to about 23 watts with IR on.
Re: IP2M-858W with Synology - Periodically Freezes Up
What's odd is that it was working fine until I experimented with the IR setting. Once I realized that messed it up, I changed it back - problem solved. The only thing that changed today was that 2 more cameras were added to the NAS. Would that impact the power supply?
I should mention .. the IR Setting is "ZoomPrio". When I changed it to "Smart IR", that's when the camera started freezing and turning off, so I put it back.
Thanks for your input

Personally it does sound like a Power issue. While I don't have that camera I do have a camera that does have ZOOMPRIO in the settings. Personally messing with that setting I am not sure how it would effect your camera unless you set it to manual and had the adjustment setup for high IR settings in manual.
Then while I again can't say because my 12v model PTZ version of this camera has bad Power Board and my other one that is still working is a 24vac version so it wouldn't work on a 12v supply..
However knowing about both 12v and 24vac systems as Jack7 said personally it does sound like a Power Supply issue. Also if you are trying to share power to your system from the same power supply that your PTZ camera is connected with then for sure it could be an issue connecting 2 more cameras to that power supply.. However making the connection to a Recorder and them on their own power supply shouldn't be an issue as long as the power supply for the PTZ camera is 1, not under powered and or 2 the run isn't to long for the power supply..
So with that said. IF you are using the 12v 2amp power supply that may have came with the camera and you split off the power to other cameras you might be ok key word MIGHT because when the Camera is running at color mode it isn't taking the IR power that the camera would need at night then at night and other cameras connected if to that supply the power that would be needed for the IR to work is now being used by the other cameras and no longer can support the 858 and in turn to try and save the camera it would or could go into a Low voltage protection and shut down aka reboot. Another thing that could happen is that the power supply could go into a over load protection and shut down this would cause all the cameras to go offline in this event.. Also with them needing IR that could also be bad..
However if the camera is on its own power supply and you used a Extension to power the camera that power supply has small wires between the Wall plug and the camera 2.5mm plug and as such needs to be used without an extending the wire.. If that is the issue again camera might work at day time however under load at night IR on the power can't get down the cable to power camera and supply might be over heating and going into a Thermal protection or an over load protection..
Last if there is no extending of wire for power and it is only power for the 858 and when the IR comes on the power fails it could be that the power supply is starting to fail so it no longer can provide the 2amps that it needs for night time loads and it is time to replace the power supply.. Could also be damage to wire from power however these power supplies do fail over time and at times can fail only at total load and still give little life on low load power needs..
Best to test out a good 12v 2amp power supply connected direct to the 858..
ON my camera with the ZoomPrio it could even be that when my camera was to come online with IR in low mode aka zoomed out it might work with my power supply not 100% however for my camera anyway when I zoom in that camera goes from 2IR to 4 IR and then all 6 at max zoom if I have it setup for max IR on full zoom as I can adjust how much IR is used from zoomed out to all the way zoomed in and if left in full power it will require the max amps of the supply for that to work..

Thanks, that a lot of good information. We will investigate further based upon your recommendations and I'll post an update.
I do want to mention that it's now daylight here again and the camera still has a delayed refresh. At all times, it's about 1 minute + behind the other 3, so it does not appear to be an IR issue. It has gone out once since I have been sitting here as well.
I also went back and reviewed the overnight recording .. the camera was frozen and delayed most of the night, but it only appears to have gone out once overnight.
