Ip2m-858w Firmware gone from Amcrest site

Post by Buddycash »

Am I looking in the wrong place, I can't find any firmware at all for the Ip2m-858w camera. Having a nightmare trying to find a browser that still works with the ui. Where is the html5 firmware for this rebranded Dahua. Need it bad. Was looking maybe to roll back, but no firmware at all is shown on the Amcrest site.

I have been using IP2M-858 firmware dated 2018-07-16 for two years with Windows 10 IE, and it works great. If using Linux, you might try Pale moon 32 browser.
There was new 858 firmware at Amcrest website for the last month or two. Most likely for the java Web UI. It has probably been removed because it was causing too many problems. No way I was going to install it. I know the java Web UIs removes some features, and could introduce problems I don't need. I have no concerns about using IE just for the Web UI. It comes with Windows 10 and is supported.

jack7, the web interface ALMOST works in IE on Windows 10. The camera view does not fit inside its frame, covering some buttons that therefore cannot be used. For instance, the picture covers the top of the PTZ control so you cannot tilt the camera up.

Where can one find the firmware version? If it is called the software version in the web interface, mine is 11/2019.

My firmware(also called software) is dated 2018-07-06, not 2018-07-16 as earlier stated.
When you first used your 2019/11 firmware Web UI, did it load a plugin? If so, try this.

1) Go to C:\Program Files\webrec\Torch\3.0.0.3
2) Select the WebActiveX.exe file.
3) Right click, select “Properties” then on the “Compatibility” tab, check the box “Override high DPI scaling behavior”, “Scaling performed by” then select “Application”.

Depending on your Windows, you may have to search around for WebActiveX.exe file in Program Files or Program Files (x86).

jack7, IT WORKED! Thank you!. How did you ever figure that one out?

It had blocked the 'restore' 'and 'save' buttons. Now IE11 on Win10 seems to work perfect for working with the camera's web interface.

I still wouldn't use the IP Config interface to start it, though. Just open IE and enter the IP Address. Note this is only because I couldn't get it to work using the IP Config interface originally, so I simply don't use IP Config anymore.

The probable reason why IP Config didn't work for you is that when you click on the Web icon it uses your Windows settings default browser which is probably not set to IE.
