IP2M-842E unusual behaviour

Post by Wolfpack »

Hello everybody,

I'm currently fighting with two IP2M-842E.

They refuse to send motion-triggered emails while the test email works flawlessly.
They won't connect to the local FTP-Server (which should obiviously be no problem).
Earlier it worked a litte, but not reliable. They sent mails and uploaded from while to while. But now, something seems to be "stuck" or "completly filled" up and nothing happens.

I have the latest firmware update in mind (V2.520.0000.0.R 3/17/17) which I performed when I got them right out of the box. The firmware says "Note: A hard reset is required after update!". Luckily, the one-manual-fits-most-cameras (criticism intended! 8-) ) refers to shortcutting the alarm wires for hard-resetting. Unfortunately, this model has no wires nor a reset button. So my first measurement was using the "reset to factory defaults" in the web interface.

After some research, I stumbled across this instructions https://support.amcrest.com/hc/en-us/ar ... oE-Cameras

Before I start opening the cameras:
This article is talking about "hard factory reset" - is that a "hard reset" or is it one step above and there is a minor thing I can do?
Will opening the cameras and performing a hard factory reset do the trick for me or do I have an unrelated problem here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Performed hard factory reset sucessfully, but it did not solve the problem.
Downgraded to firmware 2.420 - didn't help.
Now I contacted Amcrest Support... I will update if there's anything new.
