IP2m-841W Audio Detection Email Notifications

Post by phelix »

In the config menu when setting up audio configuration it has a bar and it shows sound being detected and where you are at with the threshold and sensitivity. My audio detection notifications is sending me an email just about every single minute. I can sit and watch the noise level and see if its above or below the threshold or not and its not actually detecting a single noise at all. Why is this happening? I need the audio detection to work. Its just spamming emails and forcing the camera to record and use up all my SD disk space on false alarms. I can see for my own eyes that the audio detection is not really hearing anything. Please someone help me figure this our ot I just need to send this product back and find something else that is more reliable.

Hello phelix,

I am not sure why its sending too many audio detection alerts without the audio levels reaching the threshold. Please try adjusting the threshold to see if that helps. You can also try lowering the volume level under set up > Video > Audio. Also try with the combination of noise filter enabled/disabled to see if that makes any difference.

I own 3 ip2m-841b's, have had them for approx 6 months. Audio event detection has never worked adequately. Enabling intensity change ramps up the sensitivity so high that any sound triggers an audio event, maxing out the histogram. With intensity change disabled, sensitivity is so low that nothing was triggering an audio event. So I disabled audio detection completely.

Now after updating to the 2.420, Sept 8, 2016 release, I'm getting recordings that are being triggered by audio, even with audio detection disabled. Just one more among the myriad of bugs on this camera.

I have a 4th 841b in my Amazon cart. I was all set to pull the trigger on the order. Now that's on hold. How thoroughly was this build tested before being pushed? Maybe it's time to give up the waterfall?

On the camera/audio setup page lower the mic volume to 90 It doesn't take much sensitivity off, but it fixes the false audio detection issue. Then i set the audio detection sensitivity to 100 and the threshold to 75 on my indoor camera. If this is an outdoor camera wind and crap may set it off a lot. I know this was an old post, but its the one that came up when i googled. My camera is also a IP8M-T2499

this is after lowering the mic volume from 100 to 90

This is before lowering the mic volume. It would randomly be sending me alerts even with almost no sound in the room.
