IP2M-841EB FTP Storage and motion detection.

Post by HooverG »

Hello everyone,

I setup a FTP server which works fine and under Storage > Destination > Path, I ticked the box FTP for "Motion Detect" (both Record and Snapshot). No other box is ticked.
Under Event > Motion Detect => Enabled is checked.

An external application takes a screenshot via the API every 10 sec for monitoring purpose.

Even though there is no motion in front of the camera a screenshot is taken and saved on the FTP every 10 seconds.

So the question is : Why is a screenshot taken through the API is considered as a motion ? And is there a way to avoid that ?

Thank you.

As a test I disconnected the monitoring application which takes a screenshot every 10 secs.
No more files on the FTP every 10 seconds.

I took a snapshot with my browser => http://<server>/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi and a file was uploaded to the FTP.

What is the logic behind "Motion Detect" under Storage > Destination > Path > Motion Detect ?
It doesn't make any sense to me. A snapshot is not a motion.

Thank you.
