IP2M-841B Or 841B-V3

Post by Revo2Maxx »

Don't have it just wondering who does?

I have 3 V1 and 1 V2 just heard of the V3 the 3rd... Looking it over there are some changes. Face Motion and and On/Off toggle is what has been added?

Removed? Audio in and Audio out via Jack there is still a Speaker and Mic on the unit
Removed the Alarm in and out no longer a little 4 push in block on the back for these

Anyway anyone have this camera yet?

On the Store here at Amcrest it looks like it is 14 or so cheaper then the V1 or V2 model? Not sure how long that price will last

Anyone with Info?

It would also be interesting to know if anybody has ever used the in/outputs that have gone. I haven't.

On/Off ?? - well for me in the UK that already exists. A switch on the power outlet :)

It would be interesting to know if there have been any other changes (internally) to the hardware. A nice little project for someone with a electronics background ;) to do a 'strip down' and comparison :D

Now now we don't want to promote anyone to take anything apart when it is this new... Also a new thing offered is a 3 and 5 year warranty over the 1 year normal. So I would never Promote anyone to take something apart within in Warranty Period and for sure not if you bought the Extra Protection time...

I use both the Input and output of the Audio and the Alarm. I just installed 2 841 for a friend of mine that has them in his window. Tried to get him to use the Doorbell for his cabin but his wife said it would make it feel like a house not a vacation cabin. They have another place they want me to Install 2 more later this year when I go Visit Family in Washington at another get a way they have that is only open 8 months of the year. Right now he is using 1 of my other indoor PTZ camera there in the window that can see his Shed. After someone broke in his shed last winter and stole his sons quad this way he can keep an eye on things. IT does the job well enough just don't have the audio in and out and he would like to have that. Right now he can hear when a Truck goes by with the built in mic but would rather have ability to hear what is going on outside if something was going to happen again..

With the problems of the current V1,V2 firmware, I wonder what the V3 firmware is like. It's bin file is almost twice as big.

Code: Select all

The V3 comments at amazon don't indicate any problems yet.
Hmm, something is going on here...

Well some things I thought I would bring up about the V3 that I personally don't like...

1 It don't offer Zoom like the V1 and 2 have. Digital or not it still works well enough that when someone puts a v1 or v2 in the window if they wanted to and turn off the IR so there is no wash out in the night time, Using the V3 they would be stuck at FULL FOV where the v1 and 2 give you the option to zoom in some and set that as a preset.. For instance. I have a 841 v1 in my window that over looks another camera that is 2.8mm 12mm Zoom, I have that zoomed in and working at 12mm. So the 841 gives me a second set of eyes if you will and have it setup so the FOV is little wider... However if I wanted to replace my 841 with a V3 one, it wouldn't work for my current setup.. Also don't like that the cameras MSD slot is in the Camera head and not the body like the other 841.. The MB of the camera is very compact and has nothing really to the main mb outside of the pan motor wire harness, and camera cable that is unlike the normal 841 the Speaker and mic are also in the camera head where in the normal camera the mic is on the body..

It does have a Privacy Mode when your on the cameras WebUI lol.. Sadly I find this feature very unhelpful.. I mean there is no button for that mode on the phone app and only way to get to it is by accessing the WebUI.. Then after you press that button again on the WebUI to turn it off the camera don't return back to the area it was last it just sets the camera looking out straight of the camera body so you have to tell it to go to your preset location or use the arrows to move it where you want it...

Then there is the WebUI.. I will give it to this camera, It does offer the ability to work the camera from both IE (I Prefer) and Chrome. Where the new FW for the older 841 sadly no longer works in IE and because of this the ability to do some functions are removed and the same can be said for the V3 as well. There are not much to function however there are some things removed like the ability to work 2 way talk in Chrome but works in IE.. Even though it really don't work there either in truth because when you click on the Mic it only turns on the MIC of the camera and oddly does have a different Pitch and tone then when you have that off and click on the Speaker, Both come from the camera just different type of sound both are able to be heard just fine.. Where on the Chrome WEBUI it only has the Speaker and PTZ on bottom left.. IE still has the buttons for Image Adjustment, 1:1, full screen, Fluency and PTZ...

For me I really like the 841 and have liked it so much that I have personally given a few new ones that was bought and not opened away to others so they could get a feel of the Amcrest name.. Sadly in my thoughts of the V3 if that is going to be the Replacement of the other model I personally wouldn't give it to anyone.. It is a Good looking Picture and does function and feels like it responds faster then the older 841 however with all things things removed I don't find it all that desirable for my needs. I do own personally 12 of the 841's and do have a 941 and 1051 just so I felt complete lol.. Personally like the 841 over them all..

I personally prefer the digital zoom available on my android tablet using two fingers on any part of a full video stream.  I know that's not your use case.

Two other featues apparently in V3 and not in V1&2 are auto tracking and H.265 compression.  I like the auto tracking in ASH21.  I assume it's about the same in V3.

Auto Tracking? yeah I like the Auto Tracking on my ASH21 and it does seem to work better then the V3 does.. I will admit that one of the things that it does that I did wish the normal 841 would do is return to area last set..

Between the Ash21 and V3 it is almost like the same machine just the ASH21 is for Smarthome and the V3 is normal setup.. However the Smarthome is much better seeing it has Human Detection where the V3 is lacking that and makes the Follow not as nice as it is on the ASH21..

Digital Zoom as you said for my needs don't work however there are times that I do use it in playback.. Even my 4mp and 5mp cameras don't work well in Digital Zoom over 4x so I try to keep it at lower levels.. Again the V2 preforms better for my use because I can use the zoom feature to change the Level of Depth of View for a closer FOV and only recording an area that I want rather then having more FOV with wasted space.. H265 have a couple of cameras that I have to move back to H264 some odd reason jerks and has issues on my 4216E-AI at times so I don't have auto 265 on the machine so I don't have issues
