IP2M-841B - mails send 7hrs backdated

Post by Tungsten E2 »

Hi,

alarm mails are received with mail sending time 7hrs in the past.
When it is 14:44 the mail appears to be send at 07:44.
Time in the picture attached is 14:44, which is correct.
Latest firmware is installed.

Please advise.

thx

I was have the same problem with the time stamp. I was using Thunderbird as my email client, so I tried another email client (Windows 10 Mail) and the problem was resolved. So it must be a compatibility issue with Thunderbird. :)

No, it is not a compatibility issue with Thunderbird, it is a known firmware flaw with the camera. It just happens to work correctly in Windows 10 Mail because it's poorly written (like most of the Windows Store apps) and is missing the code to interpret timezone headers in the email. If the camera wrote the correct (or no) timezone into the email, the datestamp would appear correctly in Thunderbird, Outlook, phones, and webmail interfaces. Currently, the camera specifies China time (UTC+0800) in the email headers and then proceeds to supply its local time instead of UTC time.

I wrote the details in a post on this thread: Email Date/Time is Wrong!

If you are migrating from Thunderbird to Outlook, then you can try "Mail Extractor Pro". It will resolve all the issues and migrate exact copy of your Thunderbird Mail database.

After you updated to latest firmware, did you reset to default settings? I'm on latest and this used to happen with older firmware, the readme for the firmware says to reset to default settings to overwrite the camera's config to new settings.

I already explained that this is not a Thunderbird issue, but rather a camera issue. The reason the error goes away in Outlook is because Outlook ignores embedded timezones. That's all. Thunderbird is the only software working properly in this case. Outlook and the camera are both violating standardized specifications.
