Re: IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING
I got the line-in to work with my 858. However, the sound quality coming through it was poor. Sounded like it was coming through a barrel and very distorted. Now I've tried to change it back to mic input and now that option is missing from the menu. I don't understand why it went away.

I got the line in to work but the audio out with the video was of very poor quality. Sounded like it was in a barrel, even at 16000 bit settings. I'm dropping using the audio through the camera for our live stream and mixing in the audio into our streaming software. That seems to work great. However, now I'm unable to select the microphone on the camera for input. This choice is no longer there on the menu.

I have a 858. It dos not have a built-in microphone, and mic is not an option in the menu. LineIn is the only option. I don't use it, but you need a powered mic attached to the white wire in camera cable. Black wire is for ground.

Re: IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING
When I started the camera up the first time, it had a microphone option. Now that option isn't there. I'm using the linein option with a the sound coming in through the white wire. But the built in microphone option was there and is described in the manual.
Re: IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING
There was an option that was removed when Amcrest did a FW update so if your using a 2019 or 2020 FW there are somethings that no longer work over the WebUI
With Audio in you will want to make sure that you have your MIC setting on the right one for Audio In either MIC or Line-In once set it should work over that Mic rather then the one built in...

I don't understand the statement about "making sure you have your MIC setting on the right one for Audio in, either MIC or Line-in". The camera only has line-in and I can't tell what the input level should be, low level mic or high level line-in.
Re: IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING
OK sorry it is hard to keep up with what is not working when the Heading is about 841.. The 841 has 2 types of inputs either Line IN or Mic that is built in...
So about the White and Black wires for teh 858... White would be for the MIC input Powered side and black would be the Ground side there is no mic that will work with only 1 wire you will need Ground along with the Mic input...
So then about the Settings.. I am not sure.. I can tell you that I have MIcs on my system and I have had to wiring them in some cases to make them work...
Powered Mics are just that.. Have Amp built into the MIC and as someone said before is what is required... However this almost don't sound like it if there is a High and Low input option...
High Input would mean Powered Mic Low input would mean Non Powered mic Please don't mis understand my statement.. Power at the Mic will be needed but Not all Mic's have built in Amps... So most that have built in amps will have controls to turn up vol and tone one s without most times just have 12v input and an output lead could be a phono jack or 2 wires and one should be marked as ground other would be for mic... If a Jack you will need to attach a jack to your wires for input of the output from the Mic... So if your Mic as most of mine do have a Female end you will need a male to make a good connection..

Re: IP2M-841 (White) Line In NOT WORKING
Sorry for "hijacking" this thread. I"m using a highlevel audio output from an preamp. For systems that need the mic input, I use an attenuator. I assume that is what is needed here, but it isn't clear since the levels needed for the input on the white/black wire combo. I've run the audio input through the camera and it seems to work, but the sound is very poor quality. Any music such as piano sounds garbled.

It might be that the Input is to high and you need to turn it down some on your Amp... To much power will cause an over Modulated sound... At times it can be kind of hard to get it dialed in just right...
