Hello all.. While I am not sure but I am going to guess this will be for all cameras with the NEW FW of 2019 or newer... This is one hard for me to CHEW!!!!!
Today I went out to my Cabin that is 2 hours away.. Sadly someone vandalized it and in doing so I am guessing my internet to the cabin was damaged and I couldn't find how or where or why it isn't working.. So I contacted my ISP they can't get there until Monday to fix it..
So I have a 841 that is out there, I took my POE one and took out there a normal on 2019 FW as i have not been there to add the 2020 one to it... Anyway I thought oK let me see what the camera says Card still in it.. Dang it I had it setup for P2P so I Delete from app, Setup in app under Ip address and yay I have the camera playing on my LAN on my Phone Live View.. So I go to Playback and I try and get it to find files to play but it keeps failing to connect... So I bring up Chrome and put in the IP it comes up and have to move it around little but I can see live view I can access the Setup area I can Pan and Tilt yay ok lets get to this Playback.. The calendar shows there are days of recordings, Motion listed.. I click on 1 at 6am and I get nothing... What wait this isn't the first time my internet has been offline and I could play back.. What is different Oh yeah this is Normal 841 on 2019 FW and as such there is no playback if you have no INTERNET WTH.... I didn't know this!!!!!!! WTH Call up my Son and Bribe him to bring me my 2015 841 as my POE 841 needs to stay where it is... Sure enough my 2015 841 with FW from 2017 on it has no issues playing back the files on the the camera over my LAN... And Yes I had to remove it from P2P setup on my phone as well and add it to my Cabins LAN to get it to load but after adding it my LAN I was able to access the Playback over the phone and still was without Internet...
So Anyone that is going to or Thinking about updating the FW of a Camera that you might have Off Grid and want to be able to view your footage on your LAN your going to want to keep to old FW...

In your testing, did you remove the SD card from your new FW camera and put it in your old FW camera? If not, maybe the SD card is the problem.
I don't have a new FW Amcrest cam, but do have a new FW Dahua cam which is similar FW.
With new FW, no internet connection, and SD card files:
Android and IOS Amcrest View Pro Playback work.
IOS Safari Web UI Playback works.
Android Chrome Web UI Playback does NOT work. The double touch of a motion file does not play it. This has never worked for me even with internet connected.

Well I called Amcrest and was told that it is an Internet camera and as such it needs Internet to function.. Told them that seems strange because that isn't normally how others that I own work.. Infact most of my IPC from Dahua are all on older FW and I have the all turned off from the internet and they work. The ones I have MSD cards in.. Others are on my NVR they don't have MSD Slots...
About testing sadly I can't say that I took the card out of the 841 and installed in new 841 and watched the files While I waited for my son to get there I DL all the files from the camera to my S9 (Sunday 210 here most my cameras went offline freaked out then noticed the time)
Anyway after I DL all the files and yes I could have just installed the MSD on my phone but didn't want to remove the 250 i have in there now.. Then while I was still waiting for him to get to me with the camera I made mistake of installing the MSD into a different PTZ camera I have that while I could get it to work over Lan and formated the mSD because I thought I was just going to use it however I noticed that it has good software and works well as long as your at the local network... So after he got there with the 841 2017 FW I took card installed it Reset camera to factory so I could use the DHCP seeing it was setup to P2P at the house. So after Factory reset, added to my phone over IP, I formeted my MSD for the camera seeing the other camera wasn't a Dahua and needed to make sure it would record to right format card...
Also Just to make sure The info I got that I have to have internet before returning home I did connect the MSD card back to the 2019 fw camera set to full time record and motion made some recordings on the camera and was not able to play them back.. I did then put the card back in the 2017 FW camera setup back where I had it went to set it on a PRESET and FAIL no computer and can't connect to this one on CHROME Dang it... Yeah one of them things you (Or I forget until I try it) as I get to used to just using chrome on my phone if I need to set a Preset at home away from a computer... have some cameras that are plagued with La la land after weekly reboot Don't always want to run to the office to setup presets and put things back where it goes after the reboots.. Set it and got out of there so I could get back home... Now Monday have DR appt for my wife all day.. So won't be until Tue that I can go out there and setup back to P2P so I can access the camera at home..
Anyway I wouldn't have typed up anything if Amcrest hadn't said it was Internet access only playback. Oddly wasn't even asked what FW I have in it so I am guessing it is just programmed response to anyone with playback issues as most people Update FW when new comes out...
