Just got my 8 cam 720p, did an initial connection to test things out with just one cam connected and the picture quality was terrible. I did not fiddle with any settings, but no way that is 720p quality, im hoping there is a step I'm missing because I would like to keep this setup.
The picture was very grainy with black pixels all over. I know I'm probably rushing into it and I need to RTFM but if this IS the picture quality then it's getting shipped back tomorrow.

Hello Saucesquatch ,
The quality on these cameras are pretty good and this should not be an issue. Have you tried the other cameras as well. Please do let us know how it works.

Re: Initial setup picture quality
I played around with the settings and got very good video quality. However I have now run into another problem which is now that I have the actual camera mounted on the house and wires routed it's not powering up... pretty frustrating.
I have all the wires properly connected, HDMI running to TV, I turn the power switch on the back on and I hear a beep, it powers up but does not display anything through the HDMI. I'm hitting the power button on the front of the unit and nothing is happening.

Re: Initial setup picture quality
Ok, figured out what is happening (kind of) my TV in my office must be too old to support the HDMI signal that is coming out of this because it works find when I connect the HDMI to my computer monitor, not ideal yet for me but at least I'm up and running. Had no idea there was a difference between HDMI

Why it does not work on the TV might be because the DVR's output resolution is not set to the highest, that is 1920x1080P. You can change this by going to the Menu > Settings > System > Display > resolution. Once you change it to 1080P and save the changes, you should be able to connect it to the TV. This is assuming that the TV is on the highest resolution.
