Image Distorted

Post by ksp02 »

About five weeks ago I purchased an IP2M-841B camera for my mother's home. I just had an opportunity last night to install it, but the image is distorted on the left and right sides. Edges that should be straight are curved, giving the image bit of a fish-eye effect.

I've reset the defaults under the Video configuration, and I also did a hard reset by holding the indicator light on the back until it turned red and the camera did its pan and tilt process. Neither helped to improve the distortion.

Is there some other setting I should try, or is it a defective unit? And if defective, what do I need to do to return/exchange it?

I have two other cameras at my house, and they were pretty much okay right out of the box. I've never had the distorted image with those.

Thank you.

Hello ksp02 ,

If the hard reset is already done and the problem persists, chances are that the unit is defective. I suggest you get the unit replaced.

I submitted a request for return to rma@amcrest.com late Friday, but as of Monday and Tuesday have not had a response. A PDF proof of purchase was included in the request. How long does it take your RMA department to respond?

Thank you.

Hello ksp02 ,

They should be contacting you shortly. The turn around time is 24 to 48 working hours. You can also call in and speak to our RMA team during our working hours.

Thanks, Melvin, hopefully I'll hear from them soon as I'd like to get the defective unit replaced asap. It's easier to email than phone during those hours.
