HTTP 500 Error when snapshotting a 3MP image

Post by ulamm5 »

I have a IP3M-943W camera (firmware 2.400.AC01.15.R) that I have been using to take a snapshot every 5 minutes using the URL specified in the API:

https://ipaddress/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?channel=1

I've been doing this for about 2 weeks, every 5 minutes, with no problem. The camera has been set to 3MP mode, and the resulting images it has been returning have been around 700 KB as there is a fair amount of sky in them that compresses nicely.

Today I moved the camera to a different location, one which has no sky in the image. Due to the extra complexity, the images it takes are now around 1200 KB. However, it is only able to successfully take shapshots a couple times after the camera powers on before the camera starts returning "HTTP 500" errors when the snapshot URL is called.

If I then reboot the camera it will be able to take one or two snapshots before this error starts being returned again.

As a workaround, I figured out that by setting the camera to 1920x1080 it appears that the snapshotting works OK. Then the resulting images are around 900 KB.

It seems to me like there is a bug in the firmware that I'm hitting if an image is over a certain size.

Has this been observed before?

I have the same issue, but the workaround doesn't work for me. Same error regardless of the resolution setting I choose. Super annoying as it makes the camera useless for me. Firmware is latest (upgraded this morning).

I have the same issue. The workaround doesn't seem to work for me either. Any other experiences?
