How to delay startup on IP2M-841

Post by tstandeford »

The electricity is a little flaky where my remote cameras are located. As a result, when the electricity comes back on , the cameras try to register with the router before it is ready. Is there a way to delay the startup of the cameras for 5 minutes in order to allow the wifi router to get up and running first?

Hello and Welcome to the forum

I am not sure I understand... I have many IP cameras and some that are on Wifi and all of them can start and after power fail without issue and connect to wifi??

Did you leave your Wifi on DHCP and it isn't able to get an IP address?

If that is the issue as with all IP in IP cameras I would set it to a Static IP Sure all my Wired cameras come online before my wireless ones that is because they are connected to a switch and all have static IP so as soon as they come online my NVR is able to take the ones that are already online.. Sadly the Wifi has to wait for the router to start.. However as soon as the router is online my wifi cameras are also online.. Also do you have a MSD card installed.. I have all footage back upto the MSD when there is no connection so I don't miss anything.. If I can't get it from NVR or FTP then I go look at MSD...
Be Safe.

I agree with REVO, set for static. In addition, I had one heck of a time with my 2M_842s going offline almost every day. What I did was buy some GOSUND smart plugs from Ebay, they're about $6 each. I cycle power to all of my cameras twice per day, it solved a lot of problems. I got really tired of unplugging and plugging cameras constantly!

These GOSUND plugs and cheap and very useful, they come with a free app to program them and operate them remotely from your iPhone. I schedule the charger on my iPhone so it shuts down and doesn't overcharge overnight, I have one on my garage door opener that I disable power when I'm away, I have (3) on my cameras, I have one on my fan in my office so it comes on and off before and after I arrive in my office every week day, they do multiple timers each individual day, and they even have dusk to dawn.
