HD-CVI and motion detection question

Hi,

I have a 4 camera HD-CVI (720p) unit. It is currently setup to record 24/7. My question is about motion detection.

I've looked thru the manual and watched some youtube videos, but I can't figure it out. I'd like to keep the unit recording 24/7, but I'd also like
to be able to see in "playback" when the camera detected motion.

1. Is there a way to see/do this?
1a. How can I verify it is setup this way?

2. When setting up the motion detection "area", are the squares that are colored the area it will detect motion in or the clear areas that appear after
clicking on the squares?

im wondering same thing.

Ive set it all up, records fine. I get a motion alert.
I go to the view screen, i see no motion blips.
