Giving up on wireless, going to Cat5e

Post by David Bird »

I've concluded after many, many settings changes, motion detection issues, and time lag I'm going to my connect IP3M 943 and 956 cams via a Netgear 10/100/1000 5 port switch with Cat5e.

Here's my question...do I connect the switch with ethernet cable to my Netgear wireless router? I need the router to keep internet connection to my PC.

If my question sounds like I don't have a clue, I don't. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - David Bird

Yes. Most switches these days can figure it out automatically, but check to see if one of the switch ports says "uplink" because if so, that's the port you use to connect back to the main router. If all 5 ports are marked identically then you can use any port to connect back.
