ftp storage not working after firmware upgrade

Post by wjcarpenter »

I upgraded my 721S to the May 2017 firmware a couple of days ago. I had been using FTP storage for my motion detection recordings. ftp storage no longer works for me.

Yes, I did a hard reset after the firmware upgrade (and my saved settings would not import correctly, so thanks a bunch for that).

The "test" button on the ftp config page immediately reports failure. I have re-entered the credentials several times, and I have also verified several times that the credentials work on my ftp server, and that I can save files when logged in with those credentials.

So, any suggestions?

Hello wjcarpenter,

So are you sure its not recording to the FTP? We have seen even when the test shows failed message it records to FTP.

Also try removing the recording directories created by the camera previously and try again.

Definitely NOT recording to the FTP location. It records to the SD card since I have the emergency box checked.

I never got this to work, but I eventually figured out that "NAS" meant "NFS". For a while, I assumed it meant "SMB", and that did not work at all. Once I set up my server to export NFS mounts, the camera immediately made a subdirectory and wrote the "DVRWorkDirectory" file, so I have high hopes for this.

It sure would be nice if the log file contained information about failures of various sorts, but it does not. Is there a way to make it do that?
