There are other current threads that mention this issue as well, but I thought it should have it's own subject line.
I really purchased my cameras to use FTP to my NAS, I'm not really interested in the cloud service. So this feature is most important and really brings down the usefulness of the camera.
Can we get an answer from Amcrest regarding the status of this issue?

Re: FTP recording misses triggering event
I am confirming that issues exist with Motion initiated recordings to FTP and NAS. To confirm:
1) I cannot get my 841's to connect to my local NAS
2) I can connect my 841's to the FTP services on the NAS but the first 8-10 secs of the recording is missing. In other words, the event that triggered the recording is not shown (it is in snapshots). This problem does not occur when recording to the SDCard or Amcrest Cloud.
I have been working with Support on this and that group has been very timely, articulate and supportive in their responses. Unfortunately, this is either a firmware or hardware problem and they too are waiting for resolution from Amcrest engineers.
I agree that this greatly diminishes the values of their cameras. The few Foscam's I have work great and have no problems. I would have stuck with Foscam but the lifetime of their cameras seem limited based on my experiences. I switched to Amcrest based on specs. No where did I read that their cameras would not capture events related to motion when recording to NAS or FTP.
This is disappointing. Opening this thread is a great idea and I hope others contribute.

Re: FTP recording misses triggering event
I've got my 841B storing motion events on my FTP hosted on my NAS. I'm using the 3-22-17 firmware (not the broken 5-21-7 firmware, Amcrest please fix it). I can't say i'm having the same issues as everyone else. I've got my camera set to save events including the first 5 seconds before the trigger event and it is saving to my ftp just fine.
I did have an issue once where some events weren't being captured properly but then I realized that the did not have one of my motion regions configured properly.
