ftp format other than dav
ftp format other than dav
Hi everyone, I have set up my IP2M-841B camera to ftp recorded events to a local server. However, it is only uploading .dav format video files. Is it possible for it to upload in a more standard video format? Or if that is not possible, is there a command line tool or script that can convert the files from dav format and avoid using the Smart Play application? Thanks!

Hello,
Unfortunately there is no option for that at the moment other than using an online converter program. We are in the process of updating the device firmware that will enable recording videos in MP4 format.

Excellent. Thanks and happy holidays.

Looking for this too. Since storing to FTP handicaps users by not letting them preview the videos in the phone app or the web app (or anywhere else).... at least the format needs to be readily readable and also the directory structure needs desperately to be fixed. Video files at most need to be stored in a folder w/ the Date video was recorded (but not an endless array of folders and subfolders where you get to the bottom of it only to find there's no recordings... etc). Video names should have timestamp and therefore be unique.

I am looking for this capability also. If you cannot play the files on the FTP, then what is the purpose outside of backup?

I can't get a file to successfully upload to my FTP server. I can upload files from other places just fine, and the camera is generating lots and lots of folders...<root>/<share folder>/<Camera Serial Number>/<Date>/001/jpg/<hour>/<minute> but never actually leaves me a file.
If you've successfully received files via FTP I'd love to know the final folder structure and/or tips and tricks!

Any status on the updated firmware to enable recording in MP4? DAV format makes this camera useless to me as i cannot check motion detected video from my phone or remotely.
Let me know the status. i will be returning this camera if this feature will not be available soon.

Hello,
For playing back the files from a PC or Mac , you can use Amcrest Smart Play software which is available in the link below. For mobile play back though you may need to use the Amcrest cloud service with Amcrest cloud app.

I bought this camera a few days ago. Before, I had a Foscam which would record mkv or mp4 directly to FTP. I can't believe this camera cannot record a usable file format, this is ridiculous! DAV file format is useless to me! I have 8 weeks to return this since I bought it from home depot, if a firmware update or solution is not provided to record to mkv/mp4 I am returning this camera. I don't want to use your crappy video player to play back the files.
