I didn't want to mess with sending my camera back in for repair so I risked taking it apart to find any problems. Found a wire going to the IR switch (or whatever box is next to the lense) had been smashed upon assembly and broken internally. I cut the wire, soldered the broken pieces back together and reassembled. I can see at night now!
It was weird because my camera had the red leds but no illumination so I guess the IR filter mechanism wasn't switching over due to the broken wire. Easy fix.
Hope it helps someone else.
My camera was the 720P HDCVI AMC720BC36-W model that came with my AMDV7204 DVR & camera kit
