Hello,
When the camera detects an alert, I'd like to get an email with a video of what was captured, not just a series of individual snapshot images. This is a feature that I've had on Axis cams for over a decade, and it's a glaring omission in the alert options for Amcrest.
Does anyone have a work around for this, and is there anyone from Amcrest that goes through the forums looking for feature suggestions to pass on to their dev team, or is there somewhere better to put in the request?
thanks!
Feature: Email Video not just Snapshots

Incorrect post on emails. Corrected two post down.

Re: Feature: Email Video not just Snapshots
Thanks for the reply, but I don't see what you're writing about. In the Events UI in the web interface, there are three choices:jack7 wrote:In the IE Amcrest Web UI, go to Setup/Event to setup events and send videos and/or snapshots with email.
Record
Send Email
Snapshot (and choices on how many photos to send)
It appears Snapshot has to be clicked or Send Email will not send, and Record, I'm guessing, only records to the local SD card. I don't see anything about being able to send videos in email. What do you see in the Web UI that I don't see on mine? And thanks - this is really a basic feature you'd expect all webcams to have and I couldn't believe Amcrest didn't have it.
Re: Feature: Email Video not just Snapshots
OK, you are right. Sorry. To view the video that you receive an email event alert on you would need to use Amcrest View Pro on your phone, or on a PC use the Amcrest Web interface or Amcrest Surveillance Pro for a camera SD card, NVR, or PC-NVR. Or if needed, an NVR console, FTP server file viewer, or appropriate Amcrest Cloud software. Hope I remembered almost everything...
Re: Feature: Email Video not just Snapshots
Thanks and I appreciate your time on this.
The phone support for Amcrest also said it's impossible without running my own NVR, or using their cloud service.
Is there anywhere Amcrest monitors for feature requests? It's really a basic piece of functionality I expected would be in the camera, and having it keeps me from having to setup a lot of other virtual infrastructure to work around it. Unless of course they are intentionally keeping this out of the camera to push their pay-for cloud service?
Which now that I write that, makes a ton of sense as to how Amcrest figured out they could make money by holding back this feature. Right. Bummer. Ok - short of any advice on where to put in that request, I'll be returning these Amcrest cameras to Amazon now. I can't support a company holding back a feature my 13 year old Axis camera has so they can make money every month from me.
