External trigger for motion detection

Post by skarabe »

Hi
Just got my first Pro HD and while playing with it, it doesn't seem there is a way to externally trigger the motion detection.

The bottom line: I don't want any videos of myself or my family walking around in the house, I want motion detection to be OFF when I'm home. And of course, I want it ON when I'm away. I don't want to manually activate/dectivate it. I know there's a schedule feature, but my life doesn't follow a schedule like that. It would still mean motion detection is sometimes ON when I'm home and sometimes OFF when I'm away.

So, using my alarm system to activate/deactivate this feature would be preferred. Either by using a hardwired signal on the alarm I/O ports - or some kind of software trigger. Has anybody else played with this and knows if it can be done?

I found this out myself. There is a http API you can use for remote configuration etc: https://s3.amazonaws.com/amcrest-files/ ... DK_API.pdf

I use my Vera automation controller to change camera presets, activate motion detection etc and it's working fine.

Very interesting. I'm fairly tech savvy, and somewhat familiar with my IP cameras although just got my first few amcrest cameras. I am also very new to mi casa verde Vera Edge, upgrade from years of X10.

Could you provide any additional pointers as to how to implement a command in the vera edge using the API from amcrest? Any info to get me started would be great. Thanks!

Can you give some details or point us to some instructions on how to activate a motion detection event in the camera (so that it can start recording to its SD card and/or the NVR) by Vera sending an event based on a trigger from a PIR sensor?
