Email Failed Test

Post by t84a »

I have 4 IP2M-842 cameras. All 4 are configured the same with respect to SMTP. 2 can send emails, 2 get the EMAIL TEST FAIL. So what's the deal. Do I need to return the 2 that don't work for replacments? Otherwise, the cameras seem to be working but I can't verify EVENTS. Thanks

Ok, so I found this in an old thread and it worked. Why? I have no idea but with these cameras, that's no surprise. Since these are outdoor cameras and already mounted, I chose to run a temporary CAT5e run from the closest switch I have in my basement to the cameras. I did this one camera at a time.

Connect CAT5e cable to camera
Open IE and connect to camera using the Wirekess IP and HTTP port
Go to Network, SMTP and select Reset Defaults and the Save
Go to Network, TCIP and use the drop down box to get to Wired
Note the IP Address and the select Set as the Default and the Save
Go to System, Auto Maintain and select Manual Reboot
After a few minutes, using IE, access the camera using the wired IP address and the original HTTP port
Go to Network, SMTP and enter in your email info and select Save
Do the email test. You should get a Suceed
Go to Network TCP/IP and use the drop down box to get to Wireless
Select Set as the Default
Go to Network, WIFI and make sure the camera remembered and connected to you access point
Go unplug the CAT5e cable
Go to System, Auto Maintain and select Manual Reboot
You should be good to go
