Connecting non-POE cameras to NV4108E

Post by mupimohan »

Can I connect non-POE cameras directly to NV4108E using ethernet? The non-POE cameras of course have their own power adapter.

Looks like the answer is No after reading the manual. But I wanted to double check. I guess they will have to be connected to the router and the NVR should be connected to the router. As long as I can manage the non-POE cameras from the NVR just like I can manage the POE cameras from the NVR, it is fine with me.

Another question. If I have connected the poe or non-poe cameras to the NVR (directly or through the router) can I still access the cameras directly through the camera's web interface?

1, You can directly connect the devices to the back of the NVR even if the cameras are not POE, This will work without an issue.

2. You should still be able to connect to the cameras, However, as they will be connected to the NVR you can also connect to the NVR and manage the camera through there.

There was a post about NV4108E in which the user had mentioned that he was not able to directly access the POE cameras connected to the NVR as the POE switch of the NVR uses a different network.

If this is the case, then I wont be able to access the cameras directly if they are connected to NV4108E. Could you please confirm this. His solution was to use a separate POW switch. But then why bother putting the money on a POE NVR? I might as well just get the non-POE NV4108 and use an external POE switch.

Case A: I want to be able to directly access the cameras (some are POE, some are non-POE) connected to NV4108E from an outside network. I have created port forwarding for each of those cameras on my router.

Case B: I will also create port forwarding or DDNS for the NVR as I also want to be able to access NV4108E from an outside network AND ALSO want to look at the cameras through NV4108E.

Could you please confirm if both Case A and B are possible with NV4108E
