Cloud Motion Record

Post by amcrestuser0918 »

I've been using the IPM-721S for a few months now, and have noticed intermittent issues with the Cloud Motion Recording. It will work fine for several hours, then it will not record anything for several more hours even though there is large amounts of motion in the screen. I can view the recordings on the SD card and there is nothing wrong, but for some reason it just doesn't record to the cloud. This camera is being used in an office and the motion includes people walking directly in front of the camera, so I'm confident this is not a sensitivity or motion area issue. Are there server issues going on, or what causes this?

I noticed this on an IP2M-841B. SD card showed motion and was recording but was not reflected on amcrestcloud. I even saved my settings and factory reset the camera with no change. Then, I though I'll cycle the power to it and it instantly showed on amcrestcloud.

I can't explain it, but try power cycling the camera and see if it works for you.

Thanks for the input, I'll give that a shot when I'm back at the camera. Amcrest's advice was to check my motion detect area and sensitivity settings, so no help there..

I suspect it is amcrest cloud's problem. I have another model and lost motion at some period also. I always reboot to resolve this. Now I ditched the cloud service and record everything to my NAS. so far so fine just unable to view events on cloud. and smart play is so-so.

Thanks for the info. I've continued having intermittent issues, not 100% on whether the reboot actually resolved it. I rely on the cloud recording since its a single camera with an SD card that can just be taken & there goes all my footage. Unfortunately without having reliable remote video I may end up having to switch to another company - any recommendations?

Same here using IP3M-956E camera on the cloud. Was going to add another camera to cover side yard, but these intermittent problems are discouraging me from doing so. Works ok for a while, then suddenly quits recording anything. Has on occasion recorded for a time continuously. Tried rebooting, deleting and adding back with new name, etc. Might start working ok again for a time, but then with no further tinkering, just not recording again. Another irritating thing is a recorded motion "event" that appears as the image suddenly brightening and darkening, on its own. Using the cloud setting I had changed the brightness from 50 to 55, so maybe it will quit doing the "flicker event" if I return it to default setting. But flicker event is the very least of the problems. Don't know if this is cloud or camera software glitch. Getting tired of having to return everything to default settings and deleting/adding camera. If I can't make changes that stick and work, what's the point? Anyone using alternatives? Blue Iris seems to require a dedicated computer to work, which I don't want to do. Is anyone using the Amcrest NVR system, and how is that working?

Has anyone tried Cloudcam or a similar cloud based solution?

Just an update - I'm looking at other cameras. For 3 days straight now the cloud hasn't recorded a single motion event. All my attempts at contacting the company have gone without response, and they just keep stating their return policy is 30 days. Total waste of time and money. Would also be interested in everyone's thoughts on other cameras with similar features (cloud recording as well as local storage). Can't believe this company charges a monthly fee when the service doesn't even work... Anyone want a used IPM-721S? :)
