Clarity regarding recent firmware update?

Post by GreenScrew »

I have 3 841 1080p cams and have been holding off updating firmware based on reported issues/concerns here. Can someone from Amcrest (Melvin) provide a list of known issues with this latest firmware that are being worked on and are likely to be resolved with an upcoming update?

It's hard to tell how many of these issues might be acknowledged vs sporadic/random that may or may not affect me if I update. Such a list would also be helpful for ascertaining which if any of the know issues will be relevant for me.

I know it's asking a lot (rhetorical) but your customers would appreciate it!

Hello GreenScrew ,

Here is a list of issues customers have reported.

1) Motion detection settings not getting saved form the web UI. This can be fixed by hard resetting the camera.
2) Quality of audio on recordings have reportedly gone down a bit.
3) Since new recordings would be on MP4 format , the old files in .dav format does not playback from the SD card. If you need the old recordings, you need to connect the SD card to a PC and copy the files you need.

Thanks for the reply, Melvin!

Based on this I went ahead and updated all my cameras. Everything seems to be working fine. Can you confirm whether the old .dav files will remain until the SD card is full at which point they will be removed oldest first as needed? Just want to make sure that the .dav will get overwritten properly as is configured.

Hello GreenScrew,

Good to hear that. Yes they will be kept until the loop recording erases them automatically when the card get nearly full.
