I want to set up wireless cameras but finding power sources within 10 feet (length of power adapter wire) of the IP2M-842 cameras is not possible. On the other hand, I can easily run ethernet cable over longer distances from different power outlets to the cameras using POE injectors. So, can IP2M-842 cameras be powered by ethernet or is the ethernet socket on the camera for hard wired data only? I also am considering using some IP2M-841 cameras. Same question.
Thanks.
Can the IP2M-842 cameras be powered by POE?
Re: Can the IP2M-842 cameras be powered by POE?
Hello Bari ,
We have POE models for the same cameras you have. However its possible to use them with an injector. You will need an additional equipment per camera which is the POE splitter. It can output 12/5 volt to the cameras depending on what your camera needs. The outdoor cameras needs 12 volt where as the indoor one needs 5 volt. Please find the link below for the slitter device.
