can't signin using ip in browser

Post by medic61 »

When I first got the camera, I could login using a browser and just going to 192.168.1.25, I can see it in the IP Config program, but now when I try to go I get "page cannot be displayed".

Thoughts?

Perhaps your camera has a different IP address now? You never said if you assigned a static IP or DHCP reservation. If you left it at the default, using DHCP, it's probably changed.

DHCP addresses are "leased" and near the end of the lease they have to be renewed. Usually the client (camera) will get the same address again but it's possible for it to be assigned a new one unless you reserved a specific address for it within the DHCP server.

Is there a response when you ping the address? At a command prompt, type "ping 192.168.1.25" (without quotes) and you should see a response. Although that doesn't guarantee it's from the camera and not some other device, at least it shows something is at that address.

If the camera has changed addresses, you have two choices. You can set it to a static address or you can set up a DHCP reservation. The latter is better, since the DHCP server is aware of it and won't assign that address to another device, causing a conflict.
