I have a new IP2M-842W and while I can setup my FTP server's information, there is no NAS option under Setup>Storage>Destination. I thought maybe I needed to upgrade the firmware, but can't find it. Box is dated 2015-12. My Information > System is says this:
Software Version2.212.0000.2.R, build : 2015-11-02
WEB Version3.2.1.273284
S/NAMC002F04D7D1R8SA
Any thoughts?
Tom
Can't find NAS storage option on ProHD
Re: Can't find NAS storage option on ProHD
Hello tommyn,
The IP2M-842W currently does not have the NAS storage option. The indoor pro HD models do support NAS but the Outdoor its just FTP for the time being.

I hit this same issue. Any estimate of when it might support NAS? With no SD or NAS, FTP is pretty limiting.

Hello,
The camera has been successfully tested with WD cloud NAS which supports FTP. We are not aware of any plans to add this feature.

In that case - without using FTP - how do I get the 842 working with my Synology NAS?? Every piece of literature on this camera - with the exception of this post - says the 842 will have the NAS option. From the manual to your help files/knowledgebase, they all show the NAS option.
So now, there is none??

Did I ask a challenging question?
When all of your documentation says this camera - including a camera model specific setup sheet - says it will offer the "NAS" destination, is this sole repository of the truth? If so, how do we mount the camera in Synology's Surveillance System package?
Anyone??
UPDATE (10 min later): pulled the camera down, used ethernet connection and finally got it to reset. Got it connected to Syn Sur app. Reinstalled and it can't be found. I'm assuming bad connection now. Since I managed to get all the pieces working, it appears - appears! - to be on my end. Will update when it all works.

Re: Can't find NAS storage option on ProHD
So...now the 842 shows up and records on my Synology. Great. But the motion detection does not work. Instead, it just records chunks (length depending on my setting) of video.
I have a $40 Dlink camera that simply works. It records events perfectly. I bought the 4x more expensive 842 because it's built for the outside and spec-wise, is far better. So why is it so much more difficult to get working??
1) how do I limit recordings to event-triggered only? I've logged into the camera and attempted to configure it there and I've told SS on Synology to trigger recordings based on SS determination of an event. Neither seem to matter.
2) is there any expectation that, like all of your documentation shows, you'll enable the "NAS" destination under Setup?
3) could someone please at least answer me so I know these questions are being seen?
