Camera bug

Post by hugme »

I have 4 Amcrest cameras and just bought 2 more. The two new ones are IP5M-T1179EW-AI-V3 and they are the first time I've used this model. One of the first things I do with the camera is add the other users. System -> Manage Users -> Add User -> fill out all the information. I did it just the same as my other cameras, however this time the "save" button doesn't work. (in the smaller window, after the information has been filled out) You click it and get nothing, no error, it just acts like nothing happened.

I tried current and previous versions of the firmware and several other things. finally, after hours (days) of working on it I called support.

Apparently, the only way to get the save button to work is the following:
Open up Edge
Go into the settings for edge under "default browser"
Change the allow sites to use IE mode to "allow"
Add the IE security mode pages as the IP address (has to be the IP, not the name)
*you have 30 days and then you'll have to set this again.
Go to the IP address and make the change.
Note, many of your other functions will no longer work, such as the camera stream.

You'll have to do this every time you make a settings change because some options just don't work.

She said this was NOT considered a bug because it was possible to make the change?!? YES, this is a BUG by every definition of the word. It's super annoying to have to have two browsers to use the camera and reset the IP in the settings every 30 days every time I want to make a change.

Please add this to your bug list for this camera.

As support has said it's not a bug, issue is IE is no longer supported but all devices are still mostly IE based in code. So functions as expected in IE. For me I don't add them all and I have more then 40 devices be it Alibi, Amcrest, Dahua, LTS, ICRealtime, Hikvision and many more. Most use normal Chrome or Edge but require IE for settings to get all features. So now days I just go to IP address for camera using Edge and top right is button to work in IE mode. Click that and sometimes it let's me add it other times it don't, but I can use in IE mode either way.

Pain yes bug not really. Features work.

Good luck with your cameras.
Be Safe.
