Brand new AD110 registered to another user

I purchased my AD110 from Amazon. Once installed I tried to add it via the iOS app. Both scanning the barcode and entering the serial number manually results in the error message:

This device is already registered by air**@sbcglobal**

Any idea how this device brand new out of the package could already be registered? This makes me question the security of these devices.

I’ve submitted a support ticket but curious if there is anything I can or should do in the meantime. Is there anyway to get this setup on my wifi without having to register the device?

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

If your device is already setup and registered with another user you will want to return it. If bought from Amazon you should report it was a used product and not NEW.

You don't want to setup without being the person it is Registered it. By setting it up you will in a since be giving control to that user and you won't have access.. So NO you don't want to add it to your Network.

There is no reason for it to be registered to another user if you bought it with the idea it was NEW!

I actually figured out my issue. I scanned the barcode on the box which turned out to not be the serial number. I used the serial number on the device and all is good.
