Any way to maximize IR light output?

Post by EddieColeslawski »

Hello, I have 2 IP8M-2493’s that I tilted 90 degrees to get optimal view. Problem is that the IR lights have a tendency to reflect off the exterior of my house and makes the yard look extremely dark and unviewable in contrast; I have been turning the lights off totally as a workaround, as that actually provides a better image. When I switch the IR lights in settings from manual to Smart IR, the image does a brief adjustment where it totally lights up the yard for a second or two, and it’s perfect, but I am unable to replicate that even when I set the IR lights to 100% level at manual.

Question is, is there someway to peg the level that I briefly get during the adjustment period, or alternatively, is it possible to independently rotate the IR light ring from the lens on that model camera? Also, I tried rotating the lens 180 degrees, to point the lights in the other direction, but still no luck. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Noty quite the same problem here and I can't answer your question but I have cameras 'looking' out through windows so I have to switch their IR lights off to prevent glare back from the glass but I've got a couple of IR illuminators mounted outside which fill in the IR light from my external cameras very well. I got two and am very happy with them (one for the front and one for the back of the house) - https://www.amazon.com/Tonton-Illuminat ... 306&sr=8-2

My drive is completely dark to the naked eye the pool of light on the right is from the illuminator and the one on the left from an external camera -

I solved a problem similar to yours by sacrificing a small amount of coverage and turning the camera away from the wall where it was mounted.
