AMDV108116 Cumbersome playback interface

Post by perryg114 »

I have been trying to figure out how to isolate small motion activated video clips. The user interface is very cumbersome. You start out with the motion activated events on the 24 hr scale. The really short events like a car passing are impossible to select. You have to start on a large motion event and then try to fast forward to the event of interest. If you try to zoom in your window is not in the correct place. I don't see an easy way to position this zoomed in window over the event since clicking on it does not work in the 24 hr window. Also once you get close to where you want in a zoomed in window it reset everything back to the 24hr window if you hit stop. The buttons for navigation are not in a workable order. In the rare event you get where you want, the frame forward and backward buttons don't seem to work correctly. Say I have an image of a car paused and I hit the back or forward buttons, I don't get the next frame. So I can never find the frame with say the tag number in it. Another issue is that in order to navigate, you have to do it on the fly, if you pause nothing works. Very aggravating and confusing to isolate a clip and work with just that. Clicking on the file gets me to a right place but then it starts playing and jumps to a different event. I can't seem to isolate just the clip with the few frames of data that I need.

After playing with the DVR playback, I have discovered that the single frame backwards button does not work. I can single step forward but not backwards. When I hit the back button it goes blank.

You don't appear to be using the file list of recordings. You might find that the file list works better than the time line. See page 48-58 of the User manual at the link below. Particularly item 7 on page 48.

I started playing with the web interface and that is working a little better. It has a zoom slider that the hardware interface does not have.

I discovered the files as an alternate method of playback. Is there as way to increase the pre record interval on motion events. I find that sometimes the DVR does not trigger until after the motion event is gone or on the tail end of it. I am also finding that is does not always trigger unless the motion event covers a significant portion of the field of view. I have the sensitivity maxed out and the threshold at zero and it still won't trigger when I walk out the front door. I have the area I want to detect motion in marked in red, is that backwards? Is the motion detect area clear or red?

I have another question. There are 4 different colored regions. Which one is the active motion detection? I don't see a setting that selects which of the 4 regions you want to use at a given time of the day. I went to period and the lines are green and I did not see a way to paint a line other than green. I can add or erase the green line but not change the color.
