So I followed both the included instructions and used the video to double check my work. The outdoor unit is working. It's hooked to WiFi and it's sending notifications to my phone's. My existing 1960's mechanical chime is not ringing on a button press.
The chime kit is hooked up to trans and front. I have set up the app to link mechanical chime. However with no feedback from either the app or the chime kit I can't isolate what the issue is. I'm also unclear of what the chime kit is. Is it a power regulator for the doorbell? Some form of remote relay to ring the bell?
Now the existing bell setup was installed with the house. It was working with the basic mechanical button, and then a skybell 2.0 which this is replacing. While the outdoor unit works a league better than the skybell, I really need the indoor chime to ring.
What am I missing here?
Amcrest wifi doorbell not working with mechanical chime
Re: Amcrest wifi doorbell not working with mechanical chime
Hello and Welcome to the Forum
So I would double check that the Transformer and wiring is the right size for the job. This almost sounds like a case of having to small of a Transformer or to long of a Run for the size of wiring your using. Because I can't see these things it is hard to tell what one is the issue..
Most cases systems are setup with under sized wiring. So not sure where your Transformer is, However lets say your house is 40' wide, Then a 24 foot garage, If say someone put your box on the outside of the garage and your front door was lets say 44 feet from the box where they installed the transformer and if they used cat5 or even cat3 depending on when the house was built. If they didn't use more then 1 pair for the setup the wiring is to small and the system is over worked at the point the button is pressed.
So just to confirm. You said that you setup in the App for Mechanical Chime? You change back but maybe for testing try to change it to Digital and setup the time to something more then 3 seconds. The Mechanical time is default for 3 seconds. Maybe the voltage drop is more then your able to push in such short time?
In short, Double check voltage at the doorbell Chime.
About the Chime Kit form Amcrest, It is a circuit that makes it so the Doorbell camera can get the voltage it needs without causing the Doorbell chime to ring from having constant voltage passing though it.
