Amcrest View Pro app broken in Android Oreo

in the new camera setup, add device by ethernet, the wifi select network dialog is broken in the latest Android Oreo. It will accept a wifi password, but not a SSID. It previously worked fine last month in Android N on my Google Pixel XL. I'm trying the PC setup software now to see if that will help me get connected to my 4MP vandal dome wifi cam.

to follow up, after i used the PC software Amcrest IP Config, it found the camera on the ethernet. I didn't see a way to setup the wifi connection, but after i used the Clean Config setting the Android wifi setup was able to connect to the device, and showed the correct SSID in the network settings.
