AMC720BC Tilt

Post by FL Person »

I just received five AMC720BC28 bullet cameras. All five will need to be mounted to exterior walls and positioned with the camera adjusted approximately 90 degrees to the base. This presents a problem. With the camera 90 degrees to the base, there is no way to manually adjust the tilt of the camera once it is secured to the wall. To adjust the tilt, it would have to be removed from the wall, repositioned and resecured to the wall, which is unacceptable.

The user manual for this camera depicts a different base for this camera which will allow tilt adjustment once secured to the wall. This is also shown in the Youtube installation video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGNv5Yjdzbg).

I've attempted to contact Amcrest but their tech support is outsourced to India an they are clearly not able to understand the issue.

I need the same type of adjustable base as depicted in the user manual for the AMC720BC camera.

The diagram below is from the user manual for the cameras I purchased. The red arrows point to the screws which allow for the needed adjustment. These screws are not on my camera.

My camera only has a single adjustment screw as depicted in the second attached image. When the camera is adjust 90 degrees offset to the base, the camera can not be tilted up and down (in the attached photo, the camera is 180 degrees to the base). Loosening the single adjustment screw will only allow the camera to be rotated. I need the base as depicted in the user manual and the diagram below.

With the camera adjusted as pictured below, the camera can not be tilted up and down (red arrows). The only way to adjust tilt would be to remove the three mounting screws from the flange and reposition the camera on the wall, which is not acceptable.

The base as depicted in the above post (taken from the users manual) would allow for tilt adjustment.

Hello FL Person ,

You can tilt the camera without taking the mounting screws. For this, you need to grip the camera by hand and turn it.

Eureka! Thank you! Seems so obvious now. I see that the camera will "ratchet" through tilt positions. No one on the help line told me this and I didn't discover it myself as I was reluctant to force any adjustments.

Thanks again!
