Alarm can still trigger when motion detect disabled
If motion detect is disabled (the box is unchecked) and you go in to detection area setup and you trigger an alarm by passing the threshold inside the detection area setup, it actually generates an actual alarm and triggers and e-mail to be sent if you have it set up to do that. Doesn't seem logical that it should send an e-mail when motion detect is not enabled and you are just setting up the detection areas.
