960H 8CH 1TB Security Camera DVR....

I'm buying 8-channel DVR 1 TB hard drive.
I only have one camera thus far. Will I get 8 times as much recording time?
Please don't tell me my hard drive will remain 7/8 empty, and I need another hard drive to extend time.
