While I've coat-tailed another thread in the forum regarding this, no one from Amcrest (or anywhere else!) is commenting there, so I'll begin again.
I've got a new IP2M-842B running wireless and (now) connected to my Synology NAS. If you look at the other thread, you'll see I initially had issues connecting, but those are now solved.
All of the documentation shows that, once you get into setup on the 842 itself, you should be able to choose "NAS" as your destination. The NAS option, of course, does NOT appear for the 842. The previous thread (from 2015) even states that per Melvin. Two years have passed. The docs still clearly show the option. The software, alas, does not.
So three questions:
1) is there now, through firmware or otherwise, a NAS option for the destination for the 842?
2) Recording works on my Syn, through the Surveillance Station software, but I can't get it to do anything other than continuous recordings. In other words, I can't get the motion detection to work. (It does work with my DLink 934L, so I know the functionality is there. Does the lack of the NAS option for the 842 have anything to do with this problem?
3) If the 842 cannot be made to record only when event-triggered, which WIRELESS (no POE, please) outdoor model would allow the NAS option? The 2015 thread indicated only the INDOOR models were so equipped.
Thanks in advance.
