4k IP8M Live feed lag and video lag

Post by pmtrades »

I just purchased an IP8M-T2599EW (4k) to replace my IP3M. I installed my 4k in the same place as my older IP3M. I am ordering my POE switch so currently the camera is wired to my router (Netgear) via cat6 and the previous DC power connector. I have a 32gb micro installed.

I've encountered a couple problems.

1.When I go to open the Amcrest View Pro mobile app there is significant lag time just to open the live feed.

2. When I walked around in front of my camera while viewing in the view pro app, there was significant lag time between my movement and the feed on the app. (30 seconds or more)

3. I am receiving my motion detection alerts. However when I click on them and it opens the view pro app, the recording won't load. (I used to get a no recording message or the recording) now I am only getting the spinning wheel.

looking for solutions to this lag problem. Anyone else notice this problem?

It's very noticeable/significant compared to my IP3M camera.

Hello, Sorry to hear about the issues... I am going to guess that there are a few things that could be the issue...

First double check that the Cable at the camera wasn't damaged when you plugged it in
make sure that the Camera is getting a Good Source of Power, Not all cameras will use the same type of 12v power supply one camera might only need a 1amp where another might require a 2 or even a 3amp supply...

Also I would make sure that the MSD that your using isn't older and that it is in the right range for the Camera...

One of the biggest issues I have seen is someone takes, MSD, power, and cables from one camera and don't understand why it isn't working when connected to another camera is either an issue with something that was swapped out...

For a 3mp camera there is less Requirements for things to work to when it comes to a 8k camera..

Also for the time, I would double check a few things to help find out how or what! and I would do this if it was my camera

FIrst, Do a Factory Reset,
Then if that didn't help, I would go to the Cameras Video Encoding area and reduce it down to 1080P, Save and check to see if it is working better. Then I would go up to the next Encoding change sadly I don't know your camera so I don't know how many Steps it has from 1080P to the 8mp some might only have 2 where others might have 4 to 6 different levels of encoding... However in this case lets say the next set is 3mp I would change to that and test for use, Then 4mp and test, then 8k and these will tell you where some of the issue is.. Again could be Related to Damaged Cat cable... (Please Make sure your cable is good for POE before setting it onto a POE switch) if it has 30v on the cable it isn't good for POE...

@Revo2Maxx

Thanks for the reply. I will have to look at my physical CAT cable for the 30v. However I know for a fact it's a 250mhz Cat6. Just purchased and installed last week by myself last week. There should be no damage.

I did not consider however your point about the DC power I'm using. Perhaps it's too low for the 8mp camera.

Looking at the tech specs on the Amcrest website for the IP8M-2599ew it says power consumption is <7.2W. Therefore when it comes to buying a POE switch I should NOT need a POE+ is my understanding?

What is MSD?

Thanks

Sorry Micro SD card for Recording events. Needs to be able to work within the 4k Camera family..

I have seen issue with the Micro SD card make issues with camera working right.. Personally I am not sure how or why I am guessing it has something to do with taking extra power to try and force it to work.. I have even had some in my cameras that when full it would kill the camera feed if I didn't format it even though I had it setup to Overwrite old footage...

Also thought I would mention something I wish I would have thought of when I bought my POE Switch.. If the POE and POE+ that your looking at has little cost difference personally go for the POE+ in my cases at the time I bought my Cisco Switch the POE+ was out of my reach and bought the POE switch.. Now I own both POE+ and POE 24port switches both of them only having 12 POE and POE+ ports, switches today can be less costly then what I paid for the POE in its time..

Yes I went with an 8 channel poe+. I will try to reformat the micro sd. I can view the recording from the playback menu on the view pro app, however I can't view them direct from the notification.
