1080P (IP2M-842) Seems to stop working when its hot out

Post by OrigamiHam »

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with information or a solution to the problem I'm having with this Camera. It works for a few hours in the morning just fine and it seems when it gets hotter outside I can not connect to the camera meanwhile the inside one works just fine.
So far I have tried a new power supply, hard wired the Ethernet cable, and swapped it with the other 1080P (IP2M-842) I bought for the house (which is not installed yet) I am getting the same issue every time. I live in Phoenix and I have the camera mounted to the ceiling outside my front door so the cables run through the attic (which does get pretty oven like) Does anyone know if that is the actual problem or if there is anyway to fix the issues I'm having? Thanks for your time

The past few days have been rainy/cloudy and the outside camera has been working most of the day (which still makes me think the issue has to due with heat for some reason). When the sun sets and it switches to night vision mode the camera also drops until the morning when its light out again. I had this camera plugged in inside the house and it never dropped the wifi connection and the night vision worked. Does anyone have any ideas that I can try? Maybe some guesses as to what the problem could be? Also, my wifi router is about a foot away on the other side of the window from the outdoor camera in case anyone was wondering.

How about swapping the cameras to see if the problem stays with the camera ?

Yes, both cameras experienced the same issue when I changed it out. Im not sure if there is a setting im missing? But what really confuses me is if I have it inside the house it worked 100% of the time with no issues. I move it outside literally on the other side of a window and it has problems.

Hello OrigamiHam ,

Not sure what is causing this. If the night vision does not work and IR does not turn that means its not getting sufficient power. Do you use power extension cables or just use the cable that came with it?
