I have had these cameras up since around September last year / about 6 months. Recently, both my IP2M-842's starting showing large pixels blocks with motion as if it were a 1980's video game. Once the motion is gone, the blocks clear up. Also ghosting has been a big issue too.
Reading, I found a similar complaint and it was resolved by doing a full reset via the white and green wires. This was a HUGE pain in the rear as the cameras are mounted outside the house and about 14' up with wiring in the attic. Also the IP2M-842 models NEVER connect up via wifi on the app, they always have to be plugged into a router directly. I think it is because they have no mic and cannot hear the odd sound the phone makes. Anyways, about an hour project to reset each.
Long story short, the hard reset and new setup did not fix this pixelization issue. Any ideas? Are they defective? I have 6 amcrest cameras and only two of these 842 models... Both 842's have been a nightmare compared to my other models... very frustrated with them since day 1. They also loose all of their settings every few days and default back to low resolution (signal strength is 98% and 96% on a dedicated network that runs at 130down / 30up just for them with a 20ms ping time so this is not QOS related)
Some example photos. When no motion present, they go back to being clear.
