trying to set 960H to record at all times

Post by rb-1 »

Just rec'd a 960H yesterday from Amazon to replace my ZMODO system that died last week. Got it set up and having some questions about the recording settings. I want to let this system record whenever at all times, and just re-write as needed (every six days from what I read). The Zmodo, while having many shortcomings, had a wonderful feature to select "record at all times"... seems like I am having some issues with finding a setting for this.

If I click on the "start recording" button on the top right corner of each camera view, it seems like it will just record for a while, like an hour, then when I check again the red dot is off (back to blue).

Also, very buggy in the motion alarm setup, where I change a setting and hit OK, or apply, and it does not save it.

Not sure what firmware I have, when I check from the information tab, that field is blank. the Cfg version says v2.0.0.0

Any guidance on this?

Hello rb-1 ,

To set up full time recording, you need to go to the settings > Recording > Schedule and enable the schedule for each channel you have. Normal record (full time recording) will be indicated in blue and motion recording in green. For a particular time period, you can either set it to record all time or only motion but you cannot do both.

The latest firmware for 960H DVR is 1603240 GA 3.1. You can update it after downloading from https://amcrest.com/firmware.

Thank you.

A bit of an update here since I posted the question yesterday. (I have not done anything with the firmware yet) I did have it set to record all the time (all squares set to blue), but what is throwing me off here is when I log in on a PC by going to the IP address, each video camera window would show a blue dot instead of a red dot (indicating it is recording).

This morning, when I logged in thru the desktop, it again showed me the blue dot, so I went to the DVR itself and logged in, and it shows they are all recording as it should be. Also, the red light on the front panel of the DVR was flashing.

It appears I am being misled by what the PC log in is showing me (the blue dot), when I am in fact recording as it should be?
