Needing Help With Configuring Motion Detection

Post by KySky »

Hello Group,
Newbie here trying to setup motion detect w/buzz alert to go off so I'm alerted when anyone pulls up in my driveway. But I'm having a terrible time configuring the zone or simply understanding how to configure the zone. The manual does not really give clear examples either.

I'm working with an NV4108E with 1.3 MPG POE camera. Part of the challenge I'm having is a busy street is in the shot with a neighbors distant driveway too. It's seems when I set the sensitivity and/or threshold so that traffic does not alert me, neither will anyone pulling up in my driveway. But when when I get my driveway sensitivity tweaked, the traffic alerts me too.

All I really need is Red (Alert) driveway and Yellow (Un-alert) the rest of the screen. It seems to me anything in yellow put sensitivity all the way down, threshold all the way up, red in the middle and good to go, but nope. By the way, what are the other (2) color zones 3 & 4 for?

Hello KySky,

The area you want to exclude should be set to lowest sensitivity and highest threshold. Additional colors are there if you want to define more zones with different sensitivity levels. Please note that you have to select each channel and then set the zones and sensitivity.

I'm only interested in one channel (camera) and have it checked. I started in Section 1 with all Red blocks set to default values and covered only my driveway. The rest of the screen I made into Yellow blocks with lowest settings short of zero. I performed this method all while in Section 1 screen.

Traffic still set off alerts til I lowered the Red values to the point that cars pulling into my driveway would not alert me. I have Yellow blocks placed well into my driveway off from the main road. After that I decided I go into Section 2 screen with the Yellow blocks and selected the same areas as in Section 1, but it didn't seem to change anything.

As I said the manual is not clear at all on the procedure. I mean you have 4 seperate colored Sections. Should all perimeters be set in one Section or individual Sections or does it matter? And I'm performing all this directly on the NVR not via software though the PC, I cannot tell it would make any difference either.

What particular procedure (steps) should I be following anyway?

Hello KySky,

Have you confirmed that that the zone blocks you set have been saved? You should click on save once the block is set and then click on save on the video detect screen as well.

Other than that I am not sure why this is happening. If you can give us a call we can take a look at the settings and see if it can be fixed.

Yes, after I complete an action I save the work and go back right back into the section to double check that the values haven't changed.

So I don't have to be in Zone 2 to "place" the yellow blocks right just set the values? I can "place" the yellow blocks in Zone 1 and be good to go right?

Hello KySky ,

For yellow zones the values should be set separately. So red zones and yellow zones should be defined with different values.

So when you click on red zones it should default settings and the yellow zones with the lowest settings.
