mp4 files have extension .mp4_file

my recorded mp4 files have _file appended to the .mp4 extension. Of course nothing wants to play that , not even your smart play tool.
i just bought this product which came with the following firmware:
Software Version 2.420.AC00.15.R, build : 2016-09-08
WEB Version 3.2.1.377299
ONVIF Version 2.42

not only does the .mp4 playback file have _file appended, but also the files with extensions backup and idx.
I've seen some other weirdness with the product, like continuous recording when general and motion are both selected.
And every once in a while it tries to write files into a non-existent dir called 2000-01-01 .

is there an earlier less buggy firmware i can down grade to?

Hello ricg,

So this is recording to an FTP location? Does all the files created have this issue or only some of them? The camera attempting to create directory 2000-01-01seems to be after it reboots and get the time reset to the default value.

Unfortunately we do not have the older firmware versions available for download.
