Motion detection 3rd party camera

Post by sampyne »

Hi. I bought a third party camera that I've had a heck of a time getting connected to my Amcrest NVR. The third party camera was a disguised motion detector which is not something that Amcrest sells. The NVR is model NV4108E. I finally got the camera to work using an RSTP format using General for manufacturer setting in the camera setup menu. The RSTP code looks like RSTP://10.1.1.140:554/user=admin&password=&channel=1&stream=0.sdp

The only thing that does not work is motion detection. I have to record all the time which burns up space. Any thoughts on how to get the motion detection working? It's enabled on the camera but still does not work on the NVR. Also, as a side question, does the NVR detect motion or is motion detection logic only possible in the camera side.

Thanks ahead !

Based on my experiments it seems the NVR does *not* actually do motion detection for third-party cameras. It relies on the motion detection in the third-party camera. Very disappointing.
